Definition of "Experimental Pesticides": Either the use of a pesticide with a non-registered active ingredient or use of a registered pesticide on a non-registered crop or site.  Greenhouse use/testing must also follow reporting requirements.  Experiments can only be performed for the purpose of obtaining data to be used in a registration packet submission. Laboratory use/testing of pesticides is exempt from reporting requirements. 

Collective EUP vs. Individual EUP Reporting: If the testing plot is larger than one acre in size, is in residential or aquatic areas, or involves fumigants, each researcher must file an individual EUP with the Washington State Department of Agriculture. If the testing plots are one acre in size or less, are not in residential or aquatic areas, do not involve fumigants, and are made under agreements with WSU personnel, then these are termed collective EUP tests and an existing WSU permit allows testing on either WSU lands or on lands WSU personnel have been given permission to use for experimental purposes. This archive is the reporting location for all tests done under the collective permit.
